Fiction

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

Aiba gets curious after hearing rumors of hackers in the streets. One day, they receive a Digimon capture device known as the "Digimon Capture" from someone they met in an online chat room, and travel to the lowest layer of Cyberspace to gauge the rumor. But because of a sudden malfunction in the system, part of their mental data is corrupted, resulting in their body becoming a half-digitized Data Body (データ体 dēta-tai?),[2] and is saved by Kyoko Kuremi.[3] Aiba then awakes with the special ability Connect Jump (コネクトジャンプ Konekuto Janpu?), which allows them to travel between the Real World and Cyberspace EDEN through terminals,[4] and becomes a detective apprentice at the Kuremi Detective Agency.[3]

Other forms

Half-digital body

The half-digital body (半電脳体 handen'nō-tai?) is the form Aiba takes after being attacked by an Eater in Kowloon. Some days after Aiba contracts the EDEN Syndrome, their mind is able to materialize itself in the Real World as a digital being. However, their form is broken, and Aiba must go to Kowloon retrieve their avatar parts.

Due to being made of data, Aiba has the Connect Jump (コネクトジャンプ Konekuto Janpu?) ability, which allows them to enter any digital device or being, as well as moving between two places that are conneced by a Digital Network. Due to the invasive nature of Connect Jump, Aiba's original EDEN account doesn't recognize them, requiring the creation of a new account.

When the dimensional door between the Real and Digital Worlds is opened, Aiba's half-digital body is affected, being enveloped in static for some seconds when they return to the Kuremi Detective Agency.

After Mother Eater's defeat, when Aiba and their friends are returning to the Human World, Aiba's half-digital body breaks when they try to grab Nokia's hand, and their mind is trapped between the two worlds until Alphamon reinstalls it on Aiba's body.
