Spirits of the Ten Legendary Warriors
The Spirits (スピリット Supiritto?), known as "Digi-Espíritos" (Por: Digi-Spirits) in the Brazilian dub of Digimon Frontier[1] and "Battle Spirits" in Digimon Frontier (manhua), are relics which are entrusted with the power of the legendary Ten Legendary Warriors. They came into being as the Ten Legendary Warriors fell in the crusade against Lucemon, with only AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon surviving to the end to seal Lucemon away.[2][3] Each Spirit resembles the stored armor or body of the Hybrid Digimon that they create, and the word "SPIRIT" () is inscribed in DigiCode several times around their base.
The twenty Spirits can be used by both humans and Digimon; a human-type "H" Spirit will allow the user to employ the intelligent, human aspects of its corresponding warrior by spirit evolving into a Hybrid-level human Digimon that possesses Champion-level power, while a beast-type "B" Spirit will instead allow them to use the powerful, bestial aspects of the warrior by spirit evolving into a Hybrid-level beast Digimon that possesses Ultimate-level power. The "H" and "B" Spirits of Darkness are actually corrupted forms tainted by Cherubimon; their natural forms are called the "L" and "K" Spirits, after Loweemon and KaiserLeomon. By using both the "H" and "B" Spirits of one element together in order to perform Fusion Evolution, the user can take on a "Fusion Form" that possesses Mega-level power, and by using the "H" and "B" spirits of five separate elements to perform Unified Spirit Evolution, they can reach an even more powerful "Transcendent Form". By using all twenty spirits together to perform Ancient Spirit Evolution to Susanoomon, the user can realize the ultimate manifestation of the Ten Legendary Warriors. Although the human forms are fairly easy to use, the beast forms require self-discipline to master, and the higher forms require a miraculous blessing to even attain.
Fiction
Digimon Frontier
After the Ten Legendary Warriors sealed Lucemon in the Dark Area, they entrusted their Spirits to the Celestial Digimon: Wind and Light to Seraphimon, Fire, Thunder, and Ice to Ophanimon, and Darkness, Steel, Wood, Water, and Earth to Cherubimon. It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears By the end of the DigiDestined's adventure, the Spirits take on many of their users' personality traits and are reborn versions of the original Legendary Warriors. End of the Line
The Spirits form a kind of safety net for their users; when a defeated Hybrid releases their Fractal Code, any Spirits they possess are presented first, and they must be taken before the user's natural Fractal Code can be absorbed. For their own part, the Hybrids usually need to be in their human-type forms to take an opponent's Fractal Code, although the beast-type Gigasmon is able to take Zoe Orimoto's "H" Spirit of Wind Can't Keep a Grumblemon Down and BurningGreymon is able to take Grumblemon's "B" Spirit of Earth.
