Synopsis[]

The D-Reaper has shot Beelzemon in the back, and he is slowly deleting as he falls. Gallantmon, Sakuyamon, and MegaGargomon tell Beelzemon not to give up. Ai and Mako watch, horrified, on the TV at their home.

Within the D-Reaper Sphere, Jeri blames herself for Beelzemon getting deleted, as Calumon tries to console her. As Beelzemon crashes into the D-Reaper, Gallantmon, Sakuyamon, and MegaGargomon mourn him very briefly, until Grani grabs him, but he has already degenerated to Impmon. Yamaki tells them to get out of there because the Global Task Force is launching a strike against the D-Reaper. Stealth Bombers from the JSDF and USFJ arrive and drop radio jammers in the D-Reaper to overload its communications. Inside, Jeri is finally taking a stand against the D-Reaper, but it doesn't care. It binds her with cords, while the Jeri Type agent taunts her. Suddenly, the Jeri Type agent is grabbed by the cords as well and dragged away. The Jeri Type is unified with the Gatekeeper agent and what's left of the Hypnos towers to form a giant mass of cords with the Gatekeeper as a head, Mother D-Reaper. The Digimon are forced to turn back, as they cannot hold their forms inside the D-Reaper bubble. Everyone parts ways temporarily due to the D-Reaper overtaking the Monster Makers HQ. Takato meets up with his cousin Kai from Okinawa. Rika's family is eating at a fancy restaurant, which makes Renamon feel fairly uncomfortable. The Monster Makers have figured out that the data inside the D-Reaper is moving faster than the speed of light. They designed a project called Operation Doodlebug to use its speed against it. The D-Reapers all over the world connect to raise the temperature of the world enough to wipe out all humans by melting the polar ice caps and flooding the planet. Shibumi gives Henry a Red Card he created, and he puts out the call for all the Tamers to get to the D-Reaper. After he gets the call, Takato says goodbye to his parents and runs off to battle.

Quotes[]

Rumiko: "So, Renamon, you're a girl, right?"
Renamon: "Actually, Digimon aren't divided into genders."
Rumiko: "But only a woman could wear fur that well. Either way, you're still part of our family."

—Renamon explains the gender rules of Digimon.

Other notes[]

Animation errors

  • Terriermon's eyebrows are missing at several points.
  • Before turning to face Rika's mother, the purple markings under Renamon's eyes are completely black.

Digimon references

  • Renamon explains that Digimon "aren't divided into genders." What this means is that Digimon do not usually have a preset gender upon birth. This is made clearer in Data Squad, where the Biyomon that appeared there is male, as opposed to the one in Adventure, who is female.

Miscellaneous trivia

  • The Japanese title card displays Mother D-Reaper.
