Digi-Eggs (デジメンタル Dejimentaru?, lit. "Digimental") are rare and ancient items used in the Digimon Adventure 02 anime series, the Digimon card games, and various video games. In total, there are fifteen Digi-eggs, four of which have never been shown in the animé series or movies, and of those four, only one has been depicted in the card game. They allow digimon to perform an ancient type of digivolution known as Armor Digivolution (アーマー進化 Aamaa Shinka?, lit. "Armor Evolution") in the Japanese version, which was used more commonly in ancient times in the place of normal digivolution. In the Digimon Adventure universe, the Digi-Eggs are rebuilt by Ryo Akiyama and Ken Ichijouji over the course of Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers.

In Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01, however, there is another artifact called a Digimental entirely unrelated to those which are used for Armor Digivolution. Instead, this Digimental is much more powerful; it allows digivolution into the Super Ultimate level.

Notes and References

  1. The "Digi-Egg of Sincerity" was translated as the "Digi-Egg of Purity" on the Japanese Shurimon toy. However, the alternate translation of "Sincerity" is made apparent when Yolei obtains the Digi-Egg, through being honest about her feelings, rather than actually having pure feelings.
  2. Early fan translations of the Digi-Egg's respective crest caused the Digi-Egg to be known as the "Digi-Egg of Faith". The correct translation of "Honesty" is apparent in "Sabmarimon's Escape from the Bottom of the Sea", in which Cody feels unworthy because he told a lie to Joe in order to get his assistance in saving the other children and retrieving the Digi-Egg. The official Toei subs of Digimon Adventure 02 confirm this translation as correct.
  3. The "Digi-Egg of Reliability" was translated as the "Digi-Egg of Sincerity" in Digimon World 3, as well as on the Japanese Submarimon toy.
