Digimon Battle Spirit 2 is a game for Game Boy Advance that was released in 2003, though the original version titled Battle Spirits: Digimon Frontier was released on the Wonderswan Color in 2002.
Story
The plot echoes that of Digimon Frontier; several children receive messages on their cell phones asking them if they want their lives to change. Some answer yes, some answer no. Five who answer yes are summoned to the Digital World where they receive the ability to become Digimon and fight to end Cherubimon's reign of terror.
Gameplay
The game is a versus battlegame, where one of the Human Spirit Digimon fights the other. Unlike most fighting games, the winner is not determined by having the most health, but the most "blue spheres", which are released whenever the player strikes his/her opponent. When you've damaged your opponent enough to fill the gauge at the top, the character's Beast Spirit is activated whenever he/she attacks, allowing them to temporarily digivolve to a higher level, and attack with greater force. You can digivolve it, after filling the gauge, by pressing the "A" and "B" button both at the same time. Also, yellow diamonds are released during Beast Spirit attacks, and filling the diamond gauge enables the player to momentarily warp digivolve to Ancient Level and fire a powerful attack, before returning to normal (this depletes the diamond gauge to zero). Once all of the Human Spirit Digimon are defeated, the player must then defeat Cherubimon.
There is also a mini-game, where Digimon are used like marbles, and are fired at other Digimon on the board to knock them out of the arena
Characters
- Agunimon uses flame attacks. His Beast Spirit is BurningGreymon, and his Ancient form is AncientGreymon.
- Lobomon uses light attacks. His Beast Spirit is KendoGarurumon, and his Ancient form is AncientGarurumon.
- Beetlemon uses thunder attacks. His Beast Spirit is MetalKabuterimon, and his Ancient form is AncientBeetlemon.
- Kazemon uses wind attacks. Her Beast Spirit is Zephyrmon, and her Ancient form is AncientKazemon.
- Kumamon uses ice attacks. His Beast Spirit is Korikakumon, and his Ancient form is AncientMegatheriumon.
Secret Characters
- ExAgunimon is a bright red version of Agunimon, unlocked when the game is beaten with all six characters, with either Agunimon, Kazemon, or Kumamon getting 800 points. He uses fireball attacks. His Beast Spirit is EmperorGreymon, and his Ancient form is Susanoomon.
- ExLobomon is a bright blue version of Lobomon, unlocked when the game is beaten with all six characters, with either Lobomon, Beetlemon, or Loweemon getting 800 points. He uses light saber attacks. His Beast Spirit is MagnaGarurumon, and his Ancient form is Susanoomon.
- Loweemon is unlocked when the game is beaten by Lobomon. He uses dark energy attacks. His Beast Spirit is JagerLoweemon, and his Ancient form is AncientSphinxmon
