Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory (デジモンストーリー サイバースルゥース ハッカーズメモリー Dejimon Sutōrī: Saibā Surwūsu - Hakkāzu Memorī?) is a role-playing video game developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment released at December 14, 2017 in Japan for the PlayStation Vita, Playstation TV Vita and PlayStation 4.[1]. Like its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, the localized release does not feature an English dub.

Plot

The game is set at the same time of the first Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth where it follows a different story line and phrased subtitle chapters "Yet Another Side Story", however interactions of the first series' characters are imminent to make a progress. Players will be controlling and tackling the story of the protagonist named Keisuke Amazawa, a drop out high school student, and judged by his fellow classmates as a hacker because of his EDEN Account being raided or stolen.

In order to chase the account raider, an unknown Hacker named "K" introduces himself to Keisuke and tips him off the hacker who stole his EDEN account. Keisuke persuades his bestfriend, Yu Nogi, to make him a temporary account, and promises to head into Kowloon's black market together. However Keisuke broke his promise and went on solo so Yu wouldn't get involved in his problems. Keisuke proceeds to the black market alone and starts asking questions about the hacker "K" mentioned. He meets digimon sellers at the black market and caged three digimon: Gotsumon, Betamon, and Tentomon. The seller will then sell what Keisuke chooses and then delete the remaining digimon he calls "trash". He is asked for his payment but Keisuke doesn't know a digimon would be worth more than he could and he decides to free the two digimon. The seller however did not agree to his reasoning and a conflict happens, outnumbered by 2-1 and Ryuji came in to interfere. Ryuji together with his partner digimon Cyberdramon helps Keisuke to fight the seller. After winning the battle, the two go off the black market to free the two digimon imprisoned while Keisuke's chosen digimon stays right beside him. Ryuji interrogates Keisuke about his reason to begin with and gives the answers he needs. Ryuji also reveals his mission; which is to pursue the hacker Keisuke is after. Later on, Ryuji offers Keisuke to join his Hacker Team Hudie after being intrigued by his courageous side and also his mysterious talent to tame a digimon he did not scan. Ryuji also offers the help Keisuke needs since their opponent is a top notch hacker.

Keisuke then joins Hudie as their "whack" or frontliner of the group and his task is to infiltrate servers and URLs of their clients have given. However as the story progresses, heavier problems occur and their team gets involved in larger conflicts that cover other events based on the Real World, Digital Shifts, and the cyberspace EDEN.

Development

Gameplay

The gameplay follows the same flow of the previous series where all digimon battle fights on an action turn based format, and the free roaming inside Shibuya adds the area of Net Cafe Hudie. While on Eden, players can access the other side of Kowloon named Under Kowloon, which consists of 5 levels, and level lift firewalls that can only be dismantled by digimon battle. Unlike its predecessor, however, Under Kowloon has darker and messy environment than Kowloon and is full of trap portals that will transport players into certain location or sometimes takes them back into the entrance of every level. Yet, there is a noticeable glitch at the Kowloon Level 5 trap rooms: Partner Digimon(s) and Characters accompanying a player will disappear after the first encounter that lasts until exiting the said room.

The game introduces other Eden URLs which is accessible via Quests and will be removed after finishing the quest. Yet the developers added permanent URLs which is essential to the entire game's plot such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Server, Erika's Virtual Memory Server, Akira Hosaka's Server, etc.

Digimon Lab

There is nothing much has changed inside the Digimon Lab since the story progresses at the same time with the first series but players are expected to receive quest from Mirei Mikagura pertaining to "Bad" Tamers. But in addition to the last series' list of digimons, the game will feature other digimon of the entire series such as the Legend-Arms digimon like Zubamon, ZubaEagermon, Duramon, Durandamon, etc. The Digivolution conditions for Royal Knights were also changed for the game itself as it will need no more fulfilment of certain investigation quests of the first series, and it has permanently added DLC featured digimon. Latest DLCs will also give players a chance to digivolve their digimon into Ryudamon and its next forms.

The Digimon Frontier's Legendary Warriors Agunimon and Lobomon were also included as an addition to the digimon list of digivolution, it will allow players to digivolve them into their Mega Forms respectively with Susanoomon as their DNA Digivolution. They must also need to require the Spirits for both digimon.

Domination Battles

Domination Battle is the latest addition to the Digimon gaming format. It is actually a team battle consisting three members of two opposing sides and has the main goal to dominate, capture, and steal hacking tiles, giving their team collective points which is essential for reaching the needed points to win. Digimon battles while on Domination Battles are also applicable, and has rules followed by those who chooses to fight. (1) The player who initiate the battle will have the first initiative to fight, while the latter will be the last, (2) Only one turn per digimon is allowed for every digimon. Any player who is lost on a battle will lose their stand-on hacked tile if the initiating player was the one successful on the fight, if not, the battle results as a draw leaving the opposing sides still standing in their hacked tile. Before every domination battles though the game will prompt every players to prepare their best trios in order to match the intensity of the game format.

The domination battle tiles will have designated points ranging from 1, 5, and 10. The tiles with no number indication makes it 1 point while 5 and 10 has. Some domination battle adds tweak to digimon status when reaching 10 points (consecutively) and will give the entire team power ups while power downs will initiate if a team successfully steals a tile of the opposing team if and only if it truly affects the conditions said above.

A player who lost a digimon battle will be teleported back to their portal in their next turn, it although disable them to move in that turn. This process will continue and experience can only be gained at the end of the domination battle.
