Evidence in Digimon Adventure
Episode 11: The Dancing Digimon
While Sora is fishing she catches Joe instead and is very worried about him. Later when Joe wakes up to boost Joe's confidence she comes up with the idea to make him leader.
Episode 26
When Taichi tells Sora he wants some of her love, too, Jyou calls him a dummy and one of the others in the group comment on how he's all red.
Evidence outside the series itself
Manga
While there is little evidence in the anime, in the manga it is implied Joe has a crush on Sora. In Volume 2, Joe seems to be somewhat of a coward. Sora encourages him to be brave and to be a leader. When they are separated from the others, Joe wants to wait and is too scared to search for the others. Sora makes a comment that "leaders get all the girls" and in the next panel, Joe proudly takes on the role of the current "leader".
When they defeat the Bakemon, Sora and Joe hold hands and Sora tells Joe he is the "best leader ever". In the next panel they let each others hands go. Joe blushes and replies with: "Ah..heh heh, thanks! Just don't tell Tai that."
In the front cover of the chapter, there is a picture of Joe holding Sora to save her.
Speculation
- Although it is possible Sora and Joe may have been romantically involved, in the end Sora marries Matt.
