This page is dedicated to the Yamato "Matt" Ishida and Hikari "Kari" Kamiya coupling, also known as Yakari (a portmanteau of Yamato and Hikari, the original Japanese names). The two are mainly in Digimon Adventure and often in Digimon Adventure 02.
Evidence in Digimon Adventure
Episode 36: City Under Siege
Tai leaves Kari in the care of Matt, asking him to take care of her. Kari asks for reassurance that her family will be all right from Matt.
Later in the episode, Kari is captured by the Phantomon and Matt begs her not to go. During the battle with Myotismon, he calls on WereGarurumon to get Kari from him.
When Kari is captured by Phantomon, while attempting to protect Kari, chains are wrapped around Matt's neck. Kari steps in and admits she is the eighth child and she will go quietly if he stops hurting her friends. This could possibly be in an attempt to protect Matt.
Also, after she is taken, Matt is furious with himself.
Speculation
- The two aren't very close; they are simply teammates.
- Whatever evidence this couple may have, ultimately, Matt marries Sora.
