Fan:Takato & Jeri
From DigimonWiki
This page is dedicated to the Takato Matsuki and Jeri Kato coupling, also known as Jurato (a portmanteau of Takato and Juri, the original Japanese names). The two are in Digimon Tamers.
Evidence from Digimon Tamers
Episode 1: Guilmon Comes Alive
Even in the first episode, Takato shows interest in Jeri. He has to stay after school after getting caught not paying attention. Jeri, having forgot her flute, comes to retrieve it. Takato blushes, smiles, and stares after her as she leaves
Episode 3: To Fight Or Not To Fight
Jeri goes to Takato's parents' bakery to buy some bread when Takato comes home. She goes up to him very closely in order to whisper something in his ear, to which he blushes. While Jeri is leaving Takato stares at her with a dreamy look on his face.
While Kenta, Kazu, and Takato are discussing the Digimon card game, Jeri remarks that she thinks Tarot cards are cooler. While Jeri, Kenta, and Kazu are disputing, Takato is speechless and blushing furiously while looking at her. In the dub, Kenta, Kazu, and Takato discuss the card game but then reach Rika in which Takato accidentally states he needs a girl. Jeri asks them what for and if she would do as his girl, causing Takato to blush.
Episode 12: Divided They Stand

Upon Guilmon's greeting with Jeri, he asks Takato if she is his girlfriend causing Takato to be slightly embarrassed and make a quick excuse.
Episode 13: Juggernaut
As Takato is getting more and more depressed with Kenta, Kazu, and Guilmon, Jeri tries to show some moral support and care for Takato seems as she sees something is wrong with him.
When Jeri passes Takato a cute picture of Guilmon, some of her friends laugh and Takato thinks about Jeri and how scared she would be if she saw Growlmon.
Episode 16: Back to Nature, Back to Battle
While Takato and his classmates try to smuggle Guilmon on the camping trip, Jeri tells Takato that she'll do everything she can to help, to which he blushes in thanks.
Episode 19: Impmon's Last Stand
Takato and his classmates are playing with Guilmon. When the day ends, Jeri goes up to Takato and asks if something is troubling him, even though he had been acting cheerfully the entire day. She correctly deduces despite his exterior that he is worried about something, in this case about the Devas.
Episode 21: Jeri's Quest
When Jeri is depressed about the possibility she may not be Leomon's partner after all, Takato tries to comfort her.
Episode 24: The Journey Begins
When Takato admits he wasn't paying attention and has to stay after school for it, Jeri is the first person to stand up and admit that she wasn't paying attention either, so Takato wouldn't have to be alone in writing an apology letter.
Episode 28: Blame it on Ryo
At one point, Takato apologizes to Jeri because he feels guilty about involving her in the dangerous Digital World.
Episode 29: Goliath
When Takato is feeling homesick, Jeri goes to comfort him. Afterward (in the original), he tells her that he is really happy that she became a Tamer and could go on adventures with him and the rest of the group.

Episode 39: Song of Sakuyamon
Jeri starts talking about how she is not a good person because she was horrible to her stepmother after her mother died. Takato goes up to her and tries to comfort her, telling her that she is a really good person, but cuts himself off because he is nervous and doesn't know what to say.
Episodes 41: Homeward Bound
Takato offers to take Jeri home to her parents, because he doesn't want her to be alone.
In this episode, Takato says that he likes Jeri (even though this is to her doppelganger) while crying, worried because she is not responding like she normally does.
Episode 46: When is a Mon Justimon
The D-Reaper torments Takato with his memories of Jeri. Takato even has tears in his eyes when "Jeri" tells him about her stepmother. After she says that she is awful, Takato tries to run towards her.
Episode 47: His Kingdom for a Horse
Takato tries his best to convince Jeri's dad that Jeri is a very good person, and that what was happening with the D-Reaper was not her fault.
Episode 48: Shadow of the Beast King
Even when Beelzemon failed trying his hardest to save Jeri from the D-Reaper, Jeri still thinks Takato cares about her and can save her.
Episode 49: D-Reaper's Feast
Takato's cousin Kai notices that Takato is in love with Jeri. Takato at first denies it, but then admits that he does like Jeri. Takato is blushing when he admits it.
When Kai and Takato are spending time at the beach, at the same time Jeri and Calumon are attacked by the D-Reaper. Jeri calls Takato's name to save her despite knowing he wouldn't hear her. However, he does hear her, despite it being physically impossible. He resolves himself to save her, and he and Guilmon Biomerge in order to do so.
Episode 51: Such Sweet Sorrow
In the final episode, Takato is seen holding Jeri after saving her from the D-Reaper. He says that he has come to get her to join everyone, and she throws her arms around his neck. He carries her to safety holding her in his arms, and the both of them are shown smiling at each other.
Evidence outside the series
Digimon Tamers Original Story: Message In A Packet
Takato invites Jeri to send a message to Calumon, whom Jeri shared a special relationship with, despite the absence of her partner. Takato mentions to Jeri when they are talking that it has been a long time since they have been alone together, despite seeing each other often in school. Jeri uses her puppet to say "So that's how much you like Jeri!" which causes Takato to become flustered and nervous. She apologizes by saying, "Because I also..."
Other Notes
- Takato blushes a lot around Jeri, especially when she teases him as seen particularly in the first few episodes.
- Besides Jeri's parents, Takato is the most worried about Jeri then everyone else, especially during her time in the D-Reaper.
Speculation
- Whenever Jeri is around, Takato usually blushes showing he is nervous around her.
- Takato has a crush on Jeri and he has stated it clearly. Meanwhile, it seems that Jeri also has feelings for Takato.
- This pairing is at least canonical on Takato's side, because he has admitted that he likes Jeri twice (once to Jeri's D-Reaper clone, and once to his cousin, Kai). The writer for the Digimon Tamers series, Chiaki Konoka, in his character notes, has also admitted that Jeri is "the girl closest to Takato's heart" even though "Takato himself isn't aware that he is falling in love yet."
