Oikawa, having no further use for Ken, attempts to hand him over to Daemon, though Davis intervenes, and a fierce battle soon ensues in Highton View Terrace, as history repeats itself.
Synopsis[]
Daemon has blocked the truck from proceeding any further just as Davis, Veemon, and Wormmon catch up. He orders Yukio Oikawa to hand him the Dark Spore that Ken has. Meanwhile, Cody and T.K. are still in Jim's car, having received an urgent email from Davis on the D-Terminal to meet him in Highton View Terrace. Kari and Yolei also receive Davis' email as they remark the beauty of Highton View Terrace from the night sky, and prepare to meet up with him also.
Daemon threatens Oikawa, but Oikawa assures him that they can work together so that they can both get what they want. Oikawa isn't worried, for he had already transferred copies of the Dark Spore from Ken. Arukenimon brings Ken out of the truck to leave him at Daemon's mercy, but just before she can do so, Veemon and Wormmon suddenly show up and attack her, allowing Davis to get Ken to safety and Wormmon to untie him. Veemon and Wormmon quickly Digivolve to ExVeemon and Stingmon, and quickly attack Daemon, but the Mega shoots force beams at them.
Davis implores Ken to run for it, but Ken tells him that the other kidnapped children need to be helped first. Daemon overhears this and proceeds to take them instead. Arukenimon and Mummymon, now transformed, attack Daemon, but he quickly disposes of them. ExVeemon and Stingmon DNA Digivolve to Paildramon, who quickly attacks Daemon, scoring a direct hit. Unfortunately, Paildramon's attack only makes Daemon grow bigger.
Just then, Shakkoumon attacks Daemon from behind with his Kachina Bombs, followed by an Astral Laser attack from Silphymon. Daemon fires an Evil Inferno attack at the three Digimon; Paildramon quickly Mega-Digivolves to Imperialdramon to block his attack, while Shakkoumon absorbs the attack and Silphymon dodges. All three DNA Digivolved Digimon attack Daemon with their best attacks and score a direct hit, but Daemon simply brushes it off.
Meanwhile, in Ken's apartment, Mr. and Mrs. Ichijouji are watching the 6:00 news and worried sick about him; his mother cries while his father tries to be strong for her. Both feel like they'll need to summon the police to find him.
Daemon persuades Ken to give him his Dark Spore, and shoots an Evil Inferno at the terrified residents of the nearby apartments. Seeing this, Imperialdramon quickly Digivolves to his Fighter Mode and blocks the attack, while Shakkoumon absorbs another fragment of Daemon's Evil Inferno.
The DigiDestined decide to send Daemon back to the Digital World, but Daemon opens the gate in the sky on his own. Yolei and Cody fall into despair, much to Davis' chagrin. Kari suggests that a gate to the Dark Ocean should be opened instead. T.K. praises the idea, even though Kari admits that she never opened a gate there herself. Yolei and Cody believe that since they can't open a gate themselves, it'll be impossible to send Daemon back there, but Kari implores them not to give up hope, even as Daemon laughs at the idea profusely.
Ken remembers opening up a gate to the Dark Ocean using his D-3 Digivice, and musters enough courage to give it a try, using the dark power remaining within him to do so, although it puts a huge strain on him. Cody and Yolei are astonished that Ken would go so far as to face his demons and join Kari, T.K., and Davis in being there for Ken. Sure enough, the portal for the Digital World transforms to one for the Dark Ocean as Ken finally lets go of his fears. Imperialdramon, Silphymon, and Shakkoumon use their best attacks to send him to the Dark Ocean, ending his threat on Earth, though he promises to return.
The DigiDestined and the degenerated Digimon celebrate their victory, but not for long, for Ken notices Oikawa about to make his getaway as he gives a message to the children. Just as police sirens are heard and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the Keishichō, approach, Ken gives chase to Oikawa, who quickly escapes with Arukenimon and Mummymon as they beat a hasty retreat, leaving the kidnapped children behind. The police arrive and make sure that the children are reunited with their parents. Jim offers to take the DigiDestined home, but says he has room for five people. Ken plans to take the bus, but T.K. offers Ken his seat, for he tells Ken that he's a teammate, too; besides, his parents know all about Digimon.
As the 10:00 p.m. news comes on, Ken's parents are still worrying. Ken's father is about to call the Keishichō when suddenly, Ken walks in, much to his parents' relief. Ken apologizes for being late, but his parents forgive him, for they're glad he got home safely.
Jim, meanwhile, brings Yolei, Cody, Kari, and Davis home one by one. Davis bids Jim goodnight while Jun asks if he has a girlfriend, much to Davis' surprise. Jun explains her heartbreaking situation when Matt saved Sora from DarkTyrannomon at his concert instead of her, but says that Jim might be a better fit for her. Davis feels sorry for Jim.
Back at Ken's apartment, he introduces his partner, Wormmon, to his parents, who are amazed at the bond they share together while the police bring the kidnapped children safely home. Oikawa contemplates his next phase of his evil plan as he, Arukenimon, and Mummymon drive off into the night.

Quotes[]
Daemon: The Dark Ocean...very impressive, my little DigiDestined. Remind me not to take you so lightly next time. You may think you've seen the last of me, but I will be back.
- —Daemon, announcing that this will not be the last time the kids see him
Oikawa: "Hmph. I can't believe those little whelps actually beat Daemon. Hah, call me a fool."
- —Oikawa, somewhat impressed that the kids managed to hold Daemon back
Oikawa: "Children, listen to me closely. Remember this place. One day I will call you all back here. Remember what I told you."
- —The dark plan is still not over..
Other notes[]
Continuity errors
- Soon after Imperialdramon Fighter Mode appears, a clip from the episode "Dramon Power" is shown, in which Ken and Davis are absorbed into Imperialdramon Dragon Mode's forcefield.
- In the English dub, when Jim brings Yolei back home, he apologizes to "Mrs. Inoue", presumably Yolei's mother, even though only her two sisters are seen.
Animation errors
- The Digimon Analyzer uses Daemon's Japanese name, "Demon", instead of his English name.
- When Veemon appears next to Davis on the top of the truck, Davis's gloves are the same color as his skin.
- When T.K. angrily speaks to Daemon, one frame has his teeth colored magenta instead of white.
Dubbing changes
- In the Japanese version, Arukenimon doesn't speak in this episode. She is given a line and grunting voice in the English dub.
- In the Japanese version, when the Digimon force Daemon into the Dark Ocean, the opening theme song, Target ~Akai Shougeki~ plays in the background. This is replaced by generic music in the English dub.
Miscellaneous trivia
- Ken announces the episode title in the Japanese episode.
- This is one of the few episodes in the entire Digimon anime series to retain its original Japanese title in the English dub. The other is The Insect Master's Trap.
- The shot of Shakkoumon absorbing Daemon's Evil Inferno attack is shown twice. The second time, the shot is mirrored horizontally.
