Synopsis[]

At school, several students are looking at Kiichi's pictures of him at various landmarks when Tagiru comes in to take a look and expresses an intent to travel across the world. The other students believe that he has used them as backdrops, since foreign travel is extremely expensive. Kiichi then falls asleep.

After school, Tagiru heads back home when he overhears a young child ask his mother if trains can fly. The mother states that they don't, but the child tells her that he went on one and that it made a steam noise. Tagiru relays the information to Mikey and Ewan. The Digimon in question is not Trailmon, so Tagiru wonders what other Digimon are train-like. The following night, he waits at the rooftop for Kiichi, who arrives with his train Digimon, Locomon. Kiichi explains that he travels around the world with Locomon. As they board, Tagiru notices Kiichi has a Fusion Loader and asks how he has one if he never hunted.

Kiichi explains that he had always loved trains, especially steam locomotives when he was taken into DigiQuartz and met Locomon. After a brief travel around, both Kiichi and Locomon expressed a desire to travel everywhere. The Old Clock Shop Man then appeared and gave him his Fusion Loader. Therefore, he does not hunt Digimon as he just wants to have the joy of the railways with others, picking up young children at night to travel across the world. As Locomon starts the night's trip, Doggymon and Pumpkinmon appear to serve the children snacks. The children are amazed at traveling and wish to see more places, but Kiichi cuts the trip short after yawning and takes Tagiru's advice to get some sleep.

The next day, Tagiru walks to school with Ewan when they overhear three concerned mothers talking about the well-being of their children – they disappear at night but return in the morning and are dreadfully tired. More tired children then walk down the street. At class, Kiichi falls asleep, prompting the teacher to send him to the infirmary; Tagiru accompanies him. Kiichi tells him that he has traveled more places, but Tagiru insists that he gets some rest, but Kiichi ominously states that everyone enjoys riding Locomon.

After school, Tagiru relays the information to Mikey and Ewan, who also reveal that commotion is spreading across the community as children end up sleeping in the infirmary during lunch break. That night, they wait to be picked up by Locomon, where Tagiru tries to knock some sense into a dazed Kiichi. Locomon then stumbles, snapping Kiichi out of his trance as it is quickly revealed that Ren wishes to hunt Locomon, despite the rules forbidding Hunters from taking others' Digimon. Ren persuades Locomon to join him by alluring him with a desire to go faster using Pteramon, much to Kiichi's horror. He becomes depressed from the loss that he skips school the next day, so Tagiru heads to his house. He promises to get Locomon back, but also reminds Kiichi that because he runs on children's smiles, they need to keep themselves in moderation to avoid burning out.

They are soon picked up by Locomon, with Ryouma and Airu onboard with Ren. As Locomon goes around for a trip, Airu, believing that Locomon could go faster, reloads Parasimon who forcibly controls Locomon to go faster, making the ride uncomfortable for most of the children. Kiichi then heads to Locomon's top and states that he has always looked up to him. The message gets through to Locomon, who realizes that he had strayed from his true calling and breaks free of Parasimon's control. Parasimon simply forces physical control in response, manipulating Locomon's controls to speed up even faster. Ren starts to get sick while Ryouma asks Airu to recall Parasimon, but Airu states that she has no control over him when he's in a "good" mood.

Gumdramon tries to fight Parasimon, but his attacks fail to inflict any damage, and he is repulsed by Electric Bind. Tagiru catches him before he falls off and tells him that they have to pull Parasimon off Locomon. Gumdramon endures multiple shocks as he tries to lift Parasimon before Locomon informs them that they're heading into a tunnel. The news distracts Parasimon long enough for Gumdramon to throw Parasimon off Locomon, allowing Airu to recall Parasimon. With full control, Locomon unleashes a cloud of smoke on Ren, Ryouma and Airu for the trouble they caused him. They flee on Pteramon and Ren relinquishes custody of Locomon, not wanting a Digimon with attitude. Kiichi thanks Tagiru and Gumdramon for bringing back Locomon, while Tagiru reminds Kiichi to not cut into the children's sleeping time too much.

As Tagiru is busy reading, he looks outside his window and spots Kiichi and Locomon passing by with the children, both of them thanking Tagiru and Gumdramon for their actions.
