The Royal Knights (守護騎士 (ロイヤルナイツ), Shugo Kishi (Roiyaru Naitsu)^?, lit. "Guardian Knights") are a group of thirteen Mega-level Holy Knight Digimon^[1] that are the Digital World's sacred guardians,^[2] and are famed among Digimon as guardian deities of the Network.^[3]^[4] The group was founded by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode,^[5] and serves Yggdrasill.^[6] Because the Royal Knights are placed in the highest ranks of Network Security, it is absolutely impossible to violate security in their presence.^[7] Based on a certain "Prophecy" handed down from the ancient Digital World, it is said that the Royal Knights will assemble at the time of the Digital World's greatest crisis.^[4]

Most of the Royal Knights are Human Digimon, although there are a few with bestial forms.^[8] Like historical knights, some of the Royal Knights are the lords of other types of Digimon,^[2]^[9] although they are all subservient to Yggdrasill. Furthermore, each of the Royal Knights possesses a dogma that it believes in.^[10] Many of the Royal Knights also have alternate Modes or X-Antibody forms, which are generally still considered Royal Knights.

Some of the species that are members of the Royal Knights have also appeared as partner Digimon in earlier seasons, but were not members of the Royal Knights. As of now, there is one unrevealed Royal Knight.

Digimon FrontierEdit

The Royal Knights are servants of the villain Lucemon, exchanging their loyalty for a path to the Human World in order to rule it. When Knights Fall... Though these two Knights are villains, Baromon explains that at one time "the Royal Knights did fight for justice." It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears They have an army of Knightmon under their command but have no qualms about sacrificing them if necessary. Now You See It, Now You Don't

The two Royal Knights are tasked with gathering the world's fractal code in order to free Lucemon. They begin their work immediately after Cherubimon's defeat, gathering an area's data by destroying the key that locks it in place before sending it to the Dark Area. The pair are overwhelmingly strong, easily defeating EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon in their first clash. Dynasmon's power even flings the DigiDestined to the Blue Moon. Throughout their campaign, they defeat and kill numerous allies of the DigiDestined, such as Baromon It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears and Angemon The Bully Pulpit. With each resulting clash, however, their margin of victory grows smaller, from what was once overwhelming to more or less evenly matched All Aboard The Tag Team Express to requiring Lucemon's aid to win. The Knights are ultimately successful in their goal to free Lucemon, who joins them for a brief period. To Make The World Go Away Lucemon sends the pair to finish off the Warriors, but they are finally defeated on the Yellow Moon. Before they can be purified, however, Lucemon takes advantage of their weakened state by absorbing their data so that he can digivolve to his next stage, Lucemon Chaos Mode. When Knights Fall...

CrusadermonEdit

Crusadermon is the "Indifferent Warrior", wielding the Pile Bunker on her right arm. In Japanese, Crusadermon is an effeminate male, while in English, Crusadermon is female. Compared to her ally Dynasmon, Crusadermon focuses on blinding attacks using her incredible speed. Though cold and merciless in battle as befitting of her title, she can find beauty in the world, such as the brotherly relationship between Koji Minamoto and Koichi Kimura. Jerks And The Beanstalk She is also capable of cruel pity, as she reveals to Koichi at the Autumn Leaf Fair that he is but a spirit in the Digital World, a revelation that haunts him for the rest of his journey. During fights, Crusadermon tends to gravitate toward MagnaGarurumon, as they are both the speed-specialists in their respective pairs. It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears She is also skillful enough to hold off two opponents at once, allowing Dynasmon to search for the key to the fractal code of their target.

When Lucemon is finally reborn and the Legendary Warriors are forced to retreat to the Yellow Moon, Crusadermon begins to have doubts that Lucemon will keep his end of the bargain. Dynasmon tells her to simply believe in their master, but Crusadermon still hesitates. Her doubts, compounded with the DigiDestined's increases resolve, leads her to fall against MagnaGarurumon on the Yellow Moon. Though defeated, she is ultimately killed by an opportunistic Lucemon, who lands the finishing blow against the Knights for their fractal code. When Knights Fall...

In the D-Spirit Version 1, Crusadermon is one of the bosses of the final area. She is depicted on Bo-139t.

Attacks

Spiral Masquerade: Chops up the opponent with the four body-sash blades which extend from her armor.
Fist of Athena (Urgent Fear): Instantly comes into point-blank range, then starts shooting the opponent in the chest with sonic booms from the Pile Bunker on her right arm.
Laser Lattice: Creates an energy net that projects out from the palm.
Scarlet Tempest: Uses the Pile Bunker to create a whirlwind about the foe.

DynasmonEdit

Dynasmon is the "Passionate Warrior", specializing in powerful, dragon and wyvern-based attacks. Compared to his ally Crusadermon, Dynasmon tends more toward brute force. He is passionate and unwavering in battle, though he can be goaded into letting loose with his emotions and committing overkill. Dynasmon is quick to anger and frustration, though he ever has his eye on the prize.

During fights, Dynasmon tends to gravitate toward EmperorGreymon, as they are both the power-specialists in their respective pairs. It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears Due to Crusadermon's skill, Dynasmon is often the one who searches out the fractal code of an area while his partner fends off any attackers. All Aboard The Tag Team Express

When Lucemon is finally reborn and the Legendary Warriors are forced to retreat to the Yellow Moon, Dynasmon retains his unwavering faith in his master even Crusadermon begins to second-guess him. He blames her weakening against the DigiDestined on those doubts, but he himself is overpowered by EmperorGreymon on the Yellow Moon. Dynasmon's ultimate technique, Breath of Wyvern, is overcome by his foe, and Dynasmon with it. Though EmperorGreymon is the one who exposes his fractal code, Dynasmon is ultimately killed by an opportunistic Lucemon, who lands the finishing blow against the Knights for their fractal code. Attacks

Dragon Thrower^[11] (Dragon's Roar): Fires energy shots from the palms of his hands, with all the attributes of the Ten Legendary Warriors. He can also charge energy in his palms and then physically strike a foe repeatedly.
Breath of Wyvern: Transforms his body's energy into an aura of a gigantic wyvern. It is so powerful that Dynasmon cannot fully control it.

Digital Monster X-EvolutionEdit

The Royal Knights are protectors of the Digital World, and initially serve the super computer Yggdrasill. When they communicate, they are represented by twelve screens; when Gallantmon dies, his screen disappears, to be replaced by Alphamon's when he awakens.

During the movie, Yggdrasill's forces are enacting "Project Ark", which is designed to reduce the overload of data by transplanting a small amount of Digimon to a "new Digital World", and allowing the rest to perish with the destruction of the old world. However, this plan is disrupted when some of the abandoned Digimon acquire the X-Antibody, which allows them to survive in the new Digital World. To fix this, Yggdrasill sends the Royal Knights to eliminate the interlopers. Gallantmon opposed this genocide, and is killed for it, which fosters doubt in Omnimon, eventually causing him to help the mysterious Dorumon, who is revealed as Alphamon, the Royal Knights' legendary leader. The pair confronts Yggdrasill, and in the end, Omnimon must save the Digital World by destroying his master.

OmnimonEdit

Omnimon is the leader of the Royal Knights during Alphamon's absence. He is loyal to Yggdrasill, and initially carries out Project Ark to the letter.

When Gallantmon confronted Omnimon about Yggdrasill, Omnimon was unwilling to disobey Yggdrasill and ended up duelling and killing Gallantmon. Shaken by his friend's death, Omnimon began to question Yggdrasill's sovereignty. It was only when Alphamon saves Omnimon's life by giving him the X-Antibody that Omnimon leaves Yggdrasill. He then transforms into Omnimon X and destroys Yggdrasill with his All Delete, which resets the Digital World as a result.

After Alphamon Ouryuken sacrifice against Dexmon, Omnimon gains Alphamon's X-Antibody and, taking his new form, sees Yggdrasill's actions for what they are. He destroys Yggdrasill with All Delete, resetting the Digital World. Afterward, he shares a few words with his ally, Gallantmon X.

GallantmonEdit

Gallantmon is a member of the Royal Knights who questioned the intentions of the host computer, Yggdrasill. Because of this, Gallantmon acted individually, and tried to convince his close friend Omnimon that they were just being used and that their master Yggdrasill's Project Ark was more than it seemed. However, Omnimon refused to listen, and killed Gallantmon in a duel and is revealed that Gallantmon wanted to be deleted so that he may further invesitage Yggdrasill's intentions. Gallantmon was soon reborn as Gallantmon X, with the X-Antibody.

Gallantmon X appeared to help Dorugreymon, WarGreymon X, MetalGarurumon X, and the others fight off the great numbers of DexDoruGreymon and ordered the others to lead them out of the hidden road, and that DoruGreymon will stay and help him fight off the remaining enemies. DoruGreymon asked him why he existed and if he was dead, none of the dangers would have happened.

Gallantmon X asked him if he wanted to know the reason he existed and opened the gate to Yggdrasill's lair. After Omnimon X destroyed Yggdrasill, which caused the Digital World to reset, Gallantmon X is seen surveying the landscape along with Omnimon X. Then Gallantmon X said to Omnimon X that he was beginning to understand the reason behind Project Ark. Gallantmon X said that Yggdrasill generally intervened in the Digital World, but the world is a complex place, and that is where it thought about 'fixing it'.Omnimon X asked him if that was really Project Ark, and Gallantmon X told Omnimon that it was the most likely reason behind it. Gallantmon X said that was the time it thought up the experimental being, Dorumon,and they were merely just pawns of Yggdrasill's plan and Yggdrasill merely wanted to live, and said that from now on, all the digimon can be happy.

MagnamonEdit

Magnamon remains fiercely loyal to Yggdrasill throughout the movie, and is the one who captures Dorugamon and brings him to Yggdrasill. When Alphamon and Omnimon go to stop Yggdrasill, Magnamon professes that he still believes in their leader, but does nothing to stop them besides warning Yggdrasill.
