Gaomon is a very calm and quiet; in his first appearance in the Japanese version, his only dialogue consisted of answering "Yes master!" or "Sir yes sir" (in English) to Thomas's orders.[2] He was given more dialogue in later episodes. As seen in "The Norstein Family Secret" and "A Birthday Kristy Will Never Forget", he is shown to blush in the presence of little girls that remark on how cute he looks.

Other forms

The name "Gaomon" refers to only the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Gaomon gains the ability to digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name. The Rookie form, however, is his most common and preferred form.

Gaogamon

Gaogamon t

Gaogamon (ガオガモン)

Gaogamon is Gaomon's Champion form. His name is a combination of the Japanese onomatopoeias "Gao" and "Ga," which are used to describe the sound of a growl. He resembles a large blue Akita Inu dog.

Gaomon first Digivolved to Gaogamon in order to fight a pack of DemiMeramon. From then on, he appears in battle often. He started off being rivals with GeoGreymon, Marcus Damon's Digimon partner. This rivalry caused them to let an enemy Drimogemon escape. The two later settled their differences in the fifth episode of the season, and was able to finish off Drimogemon (who, at that point, had digivolved into Digmon) together. Gaogamon is similar to Matt's Garurumon, featuring similar aspects.

Attacks

  • Spiral Blow: Gaogamon shoots a tornado from his mouth.
  • Dash Double Claw: Gaogamon slashes his enemies with his claws in an "X" pattern.
  • Flaming Tornado: A twin attack with GeoGreymon. GeoGreymon fires his Mega Flame and Gaogamon fires his Spiral Blow which it fused together. Although they never use the name, that's what Marcus calls it.

MachGaogamon

MachGaogamon t

MachGaogamon (マッハガオガモン)

MachGaogamon is Gaomon's Ultimate form. Gaomon first achieves this form in episode 15 of Digimon Data Squad. In this episode, Thomas was one of the humans who had been captured by MetalPhantomon. MetalPhantomon put them under a nightmare spell—causing Thomas to relive the day of his mother's death. However, Thomas was able to break free of the spell, which awakened his DNA Charge and allowed his partner Gaomon to Digivolve into his ultimate form. In this new form, MachGaogamon was able to defeat MetalPhantomon.

Attacks

  • Howling Cannon: MachGaogamon releases his roar through his cannons all at once.
  • Winning Knuckle: A powerful punch attack.
  • Gaoga Tornade (Gaoga Tornado): MachGaogamon flies in a spiral pattern around the enemy, creating a tornado around his body as he strikes rapidly from all angles.

MirageGaogamon

MirageGaogamon (ミラージュガオガモン)

MirageGaogamon is Gaomon's Mega form. MirageGaogamon is covered in Chrome Digizoid armor and has the Digital Hazard sign (the same four triangles which are on Guilmon) on his chest.

MirageGaogamon first appears during the fight with Kurata's group of humans-turned-Digimon, when Thomas's Digisoul super-powers MachGaogamon. In this episode, a silhouette of MirageGaogamon appears around MachGaogamon and produces a powerful energy attack. MirageGaogamon is properly introduced in the next episode, along with ShineGreymon and Rosemon, after the Data Squad learn how to harness this new power. MirageGaogamon faces off with Nanami, one of the Bio Tamers. MirageGaogamon is able to defeat Nanami's digimon form BioLotusmon when Thomas's plan allows him to get BioLotusmon at pointblank range.

Attacks

  • Full Moon Blaster: MirageGaogamon accumulates all the energy in his body into his chest and fires a blast from the opening there.
  • Double Crescent Mirage: MirageGaogamon fires crescent moon shockwaves from his two hands.
  • Gale Claw: MirageGaogamon lunges forward with an incredible amount of speed, focusing his power into a single claw-swipe.

MirageGaogamon Burst Mode

MirageGaogamon Burst Mode t

MirageGaogamon Burst Mode (ミラージュガオガモン バーストモード)

MirageGaogamon Burst Mode is MirageGaogamon's Mode change. MirageGaogamon temporarily assumes this form through Burst Evolution—which pushes his powers and abilities to the limit.

MirageGaogamon Burst Mode first appears when a Knightmon lead by LoadKnightmon attacks Relena. Thomas' D.N.A. allows MirageGaogamon to go into his Burst Mode, giving him the power to destroy LoadKnightmon. He appeared later on helping ShineGreymon Burst Mode alongside the other DATS Digimon to defeat the Royal Knight Craniamon. He last appeared in the final confrontation against King Drasil alongside the other DATS members.

Attacks

  • Meteor Shackle (Full Moon Meteor Impact): MirageGaogamon Burst Mode strikes his enemy with a globe of light that has the energy of a planet.
  • Final Mirage Burst: An attack where MirageGaogamon Burst Mode puts all of his power inside his weapon and releases it.
  • Luna Hook Slasher: Cuts and tears apart the enemy with his crescent energy blade.
