Megidramon proves to be beyond Beelzemon's power to stop...as well as Takato's or anyone else's, as its very existence begins to tear the worlds apart.

Synopsis[]

After Beelzemon had murdered Leomon in cold blood and absorbed his data, Takato, in a blind rage, had ordered Guilmon to digivolve to his Mega form, but due to the digivolution being fueled by anger, hatred, and bloodlust, it became corrupted, turning Guilmon into his dark Mega form of Megidramon, who proves to be more than a match for Beelzemon.

Takato, horrified by what he's turned his partner into after hearing Jeri's horrified reaction to what Guilmon became, becomes guilt-ridden over his actions. Worse, the Digital Hazard on Megidramon's chest begins to flash, causing the entire Digital World to begin suffering an earthquake.

The effects are also felt back in Shinjuku when Hypnos sees the Digital Hazard light up the entire screen as Yamaki and Janyu Wong watch.

Back in the Digital World, Makuramon shows up to scold Beelzemon for putting the Digital World in danger, but Beelzemon silences Makuramon once and for all with killing him and absorbing the monkey Deva's data. When Rapidmon and Taomon try to assist, Beelzemon uses Makuramon's Primal Orb attack to trap them in spheres and prepares to delete them and absorb their data as well. Acting quickly, Rika and Henry use the Alias Digi-Modify card to save Terriermon and Renamon, but their Ultimate forms have their data absorbed by Beelzemon. After struggling to control the data, Beelzemon is soon able to overpower Megidramon, delivering a powerful kick to the Digital Hazard on Megidramon's chest, shattering his breastplate the symbol was on and finally knocking the dark Mega out cold.

When Takato tries to talk to Jeri, she accuses him of turning Guilmon into a monster. At Hypnos, the Digital Hazard vanishes as things settle down and Yamaki offers its equipment to help Janyu and the Monster Makers out with getting the kids home.

Back in the Digital World, Takato approaches the unconscious Megidramon and apologizes for his actions, while Beelzemon finally gains control of the absorbed data from Rapidmon, Taomon, and Makuramon, and moves on Takato to strike him down first. However, after Takato has a dream of wanting to start over with Guilmon and realizes he could never do that, he's reunited with Guilmon, reverted back to his Rookie form from Megidramon, who then swats away Beelzemon's bullets with a phantom manifestation of Megidramon's tail, and offers to fight together with Takato.

This results in Takato and Guilmon biomerging into Guilmon's true Mega form of Gallantmon, ready to lay the hurt on Beelzemon for his actions.

Dubbing changes

  • The scene where Beelzemon punches Megidramon is censored to bright white flashes.
  • In the English dub, Takato's genitals are censored during the Biomerge Digivolution sequence.
  • In the English dub, Gallantmon's voice is made with Takato and Guilmon speaking in unison as with the DNA Digivolutions from the preceding season. However, in the original Dukemon speaks with a variation of Guilmon's voice, with Takato's voice only heard when he is shown speaking.

Real-world references

Miscellaneous trivia

  • Japanese title card File:Gallantmon.
  • This is the first of two times a Deva's data is absorbed. From Mihiramon to Majiramon the other nine Devas' data was not absorbed and disappeared.
  • This episode was directed by Hiroyuki Kakudo, who was the director of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.[1]
  • In the previous episode while Beelzemon was threatening Kyubimon (in the dub) Rika is clearly heard saying "these stupid cards are useless, I can't do anything" and thus didn't use a card to digivolve Kyubimon. Said Digimon's condition had not improved in this episode yet she was suddenly able to use one of the cards she previously claimed was useless ... only to have the power stolen by Beelzemon using a variation of the recently-absorbed Makuramon's Primal Orb to trap Taomon and Rapidmon.
