Koromon is a Digimon that serves as the star of the Digimon Adventure movie, and is the first Digimon the protagonists of the Digimon Adventure series meet. Koromon should not be confused with the Koromon who is partnered to Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, leader of the DigiDestined of the anime series Digimon Adventure.
The name "Koromon" refers only to the In-Training form of this Digimon. Throughout the movie, Koromon digivolves from and can digivolve to other forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the In-Training level is the form that the cast of the movie most interacts with him in.
Koromon has a playful personality, with all of the naivety and curiosity of a newborn in addition to a newborn's self-centric nature. To thank others, he gives them a kiss on the mouth and wraps his ears around the human's face.
Koromon first appears as a Digi-Egg which comes out of the Kamiya's computer in the middle of the night. When the egg hatches into Botamon the following day, the Kamiya children, Taichi "Tai" Kamiya and Kari Kamiya, befriend him. When Kari feeds Botamon some chocolate, he digivolves into Koromon.
Able to speak now, Koromon constantly asks questions and eventually becomes friends with Tai and Kari. The following night, however, Koromon digivolves into Agumon and takes Kari for a ride. When Parrotmon hatches, Agumon digivolves into Greymon to battle him but comes close to losing. Tai manages to blow Kari's whistle to awaken him in time to defend against Parrotmon's attack. Greymon attacks with Nova Fire, and both Digimon are sent back to the Digital World. When the DigiDestined are told of the past and why they were chosen, they are shown a stilled scene from this battle.
Koromon has a profound impact on not only the Kamiya household but the world in general. Those who witnessed the battle between his digivolution Greymon and Parrotmon would become candidates to be DigiDestined later on. In fact, the DigiDestined who would eventually save the world discover that they all witnessed this battle after returning to the scene following their first adventure in the Digital World, and they subsequently figure out that the Eighth Child, the missing DigiDestined, must have also witnessed the same battle. Kari, in particular, displays knowledge that she remembers not only Digimon but Koromon in particular when meeting Tai's partner Koromon.
Botamon is Koromon's Fresh form.
He first hatches from the Digi-Egg which appeared from the Kamiyas' computer. After chasing him around the house, Kari draws him out with her whistle and plays with the bubbles he releases. After feeding him, he becomes Koromon.
Agumon is Koromon's Rookie form, credited as "Big Agumon" in the English dub.
Greymon is Agumon's Champion form, credited as "Red Greymon" in the English dub.
After digivolving to Greymon, he then battles Parrotmon but comes close to losing. Tai manages to blow Kari's whistle to awaken him time to defend against Parrotmon's attack. Greymon attacks with Nova Flame, and both Digimon are sent back to the Digital World. When the DigiDestined are told of the past and why they were chosen, they are shown a stilled scene from this battle.
- In the English version of the movie, Botamon whistles the "Digimon Theme" song.
