[edit] Summary
DarkTrailmon takes Takuya to the same terminal that he left from to reach the Digital World. En route, he suddenly spirit evolves to Flamemon and when he arrives in the Real World, Takuya sees the misty image of Duskmon. He runs to the elevator, which brings him up to the normal terminals. When the doors open, several humans stare at Takuya's unsual appearance until Takuya realizes he is no longer human. In fear, he breathes fire and takes refuge in a tree. He realizes he is back in his hometown, but is once again antagonized by the misty image of Duskmon. Startled, Takuya leaps from the tree and decides to return home. Sitting in a tree outside his dining room window, Takuya attempts to get his D-Tector to return him to normal, until he sees himself enter the dining room. He realizes that he has returned to the day that he left and decides to stop himself from getting on the train and return to his normal life.
As his younger self is leaving home, Takuya shouts, "Don't go!", but this fails to stop him. Then, just as the younger Takuya returns the soccerball to his neighbors, Flamemon appears directly in front of him and warns him once again. He pushes Takuya out of the way of the oncoming truck, but Takuya only shakes this off and continues toward the train station. Then, for a third time, Duskmon appears to Flamemon before dissipating. Meanwhile, Takuya boards the train and Flamemon resolves to stop him before he reaches the elevator. He jumps on top of the train where he notices Koji--before realizing there are 'two Kojis', the one he knows and another one with shorter hair. The train arrives at Shibuya and Takuya and Koji disembark and board the elevator. Just as the doors close, the second Koji attempts to get on the elevator as well. Frustrated, he turns to sprint down the stairs while Flamemon begins to pry open the elevator doors. As the other Koji is running down the stairs, he stumbles and falls, mumbling Koji's name. Meanwhile in the elevator, Koji gasps and Flamemon climbs down a cord to reach the elevator.
The elevator reaches the terminal and Flamemon stealthily sneaks in behind Takuya. Koji runs to board a train, and just as Flamemon is about to tap Takuya on the shoulder, he hears Koji's question, "Why do you think you're here Takuya?" Flamemon then realizes that if he stays, he'll still be different and that his friends will be in danger without him. He urges Takuya to board a train and as Takuya goes to the Digital World on a Trailmon, Duskmon appears for a final time. Flamemon gathers his courage, remembering that his friends need him, and attacks Duskmon and defeats him, creating a dark mist. As the mist disappears, Flamemon sees DarkTrailmon again. Flamemon asks DarkTrailmon to take him back to the Digital World, but DarkTrailmon warns him that it's a one-way ticket and he won't be able to change his mind later. Flamemon boards DarkTrailmon and they set off for the Digital World. Flamemon promises himself that he won't let his friends down and he becomes Agunimon. They arrive at the Dark Terminal and DarkTrailmon wishes Takuya luck as he walks off.

- When Kouichi falls down the stairs, Koji gasps. This supports Koji's claim in The Brothers Yin and Yang that he can sense things about Kouichi.
