Karatenmon is a Wizard Digimon whose name and design are derived from the mythological Karasu-tengu (烏天狗, Karasu-tengu^? lit. "Crow goblin"). It was adopted from a winning entry in the "Digimon Web Dot-art Contest" which belonged to Masaki Shima from Ibaraki prefecture. It has the appearance of a Shugenja. It is a follower of the great Tengu Digimon, and its face is itself that of a crow. It excels in Shugendo, and freely manipulates its Genriki. The two swords that Karatenmon possesses are called the "Irataka no Ken" (伊由太加の剣, "Irataka no Ken"^? lit. "Irataka Swords"), and contain strong magical powers.^[3] As a wandering warrior, it has been taught by many masters and gained arcane abilities.^[4]

Digimon FrontierEdit

Koji Minamoto encounters Karatenmon in the Wind Sphere of Sakkakumon. As Lobomon, he battles with Karatenmon. Lobomon slide evolves to KendoGarurumon and defeats him. The Dark Heart of Friendship

Digimon Xros WarsEdit

White-feathered Karatenmon were among the followers of the goddess that were under the influence of Ebemon and killed by Baalmon. Sand Zone, A Great Adventure in the Ruins!

Another Karatenmon guards the Code Crown of the Shinobi Zone, and would only relinquish it if he could be made to laugh. Xros Heart and a group of Etemon traveled to a waterfall he was meditating under, and performed many comedy acts to try and elicit a laugh. In the end, Akari and Nene's bokke skit managed to make him laugh. Shinobi Zone, The Comical Ninja Battle!

Digimon World Dawn/DuskEdit

Karatenmon is ultimate form of Saberdramon. Karatenmon can DNA digivolved with Taomon to create Kuzuhamon. He appears in the Chaos Brain after defeating "The Final Battle" Union quest. In Dawn, he is in the starting pack "Japanese Pack" alongside with Reppamon and Coronamon and degenerates to Biyomon.

Attacks

• Harmony Swords (悟り, Satori^?, lit. "Enlightenment"): Reads the opponent's spirit to anticipate their attacks.
• Feather Flare (衝撃羽, Shougekiha^?, lit. "Ballistic Feathers"): Flaps its jet black wings, driving its feathers in the opponent alongside a shock wave.
