The Poi Brothers (ホイ三兄弟 Hoi Sankyoudai?, lit. "Three Hoi Brothers") are three Chinese DigiDestined who help Izzy and Kari in Hong Kong. Each of them has a Syakomon partner that can digivolve into Octomon.
Description
Edit
After rescuing their grandfather, who had mistaken a Mojyamon for an evil spirit and was attempting to exorcise it, the brothers digivolve their Syakomon partners into Octomon and have them defeat the wild Digimon. Just then, Izzy and Kari arrive and prevent them from destroying the Mojyamon.
In the original Japanese version, Izzy and Kari had problems communicating with the brothers since they couldn't speak Chinese whereas the Poi Brothers couldn't speak Japanese. In the English version, it was Izzy's complex explanation that caused confusion between them and the Poi Brothers. Luckily, Jackie (one of Gennai's counterparts) was able to clear things up for the Poi Brothers.
They develop a crush on Kari and help them bring the Digimon in Hong Kong to Kowloon Park. Their grandfather is then seen, for a short while, practicing Kung-fu with Jackie in Kowloon Park. When the Chinese Army, thinking the Digimon to be hostile, prevents Mina from entering China with the Digimon she gathered from India, Mina calls for help. The Eldest Poi Brother is the only one among the brothers to accompany Izzy and Kari to help Mina with her predicament. Kari has him use his Octomon to communicate with the Chinese Army in which the army replies in kind. With communication settled, Izzy tells him to have Octomon convince them that the Digimon aren't dangerous. The Chinese Army allows them entrance to China after being reassured of their peaceful intentions.
After gathering all the Digimon in Kowloon Park, Kari sends the Digimon back to the Digital World and the Poi Brothers are amazed and surprised by the feat. As the Eldest Poi Brother shakes Kari's hand as thanks, the two younger brothers get jealous and attempt to also shake Kari's hand.
Near the end of the world tour, all three brothers are daydreaming of Kari.
The Poi Brothers make their last appearance during the fight against MaloMyotismon. The three brothers raise their Digivices which sends out a beam of golden light after they call out for their partners. They are then transported to the Digital World and stand behind Izzy when they arrive.
