DigiEgg of Desire? Edit

Read Wikipedia's article on Ryo Akiyama, it says that the digi-egg of desire reacts to him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.119.215.127 (talkcontribs)

You are free to fix it you know. Oy.. Knight of Soul 13:09, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
It's likely true, but just that it's some non-canon fact from a video game. It doesn't sound like they're even using the concept in the same way as evolving. -- Ned Scott 19:05, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
What are you mumbling about now? Knight of Soul 19:22, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
If you don't know what the discussion is about, then don't comment. -- Ned Scott 21:45, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
So your saying that if the digiegg reacts to him he is posibly the owner of the crest of desire??
No people. I believe that there is not Crest of Desire and the DigiEgg of it has only one main purpose: To open the door to Millenniumon's heart. The only reason why the egg reacts to Ryo may be because Ryo is the true partner of Millenniumon or that it reacts to anyone and whoever it reacts to becomes Millenniumon's true partner. -- Digi9346
It's actually semi-canon now, I think. Ken's Digimon Adventure 02 backstory does contain references to the Millenniumon battles, after all. And with all the time warping Ryo does... But I think we should leave out the Desire egg's preference for Ryo; it's unsubstantiated. Jayce 02:58, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Separate PagesEdit

Do each of the Digi-eggs really need their own pages? All of them have what amounts to mere blurbs and merely waste time in clicking. All of these can be placed on one page and have it look pretty as opposed to, well, the mess it is now. Should all of the eggs be placed in one page, i.e. this one? Jayce 02:58, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Support A single page will work far better considering the limited information there is on digi-eggs. Images would also assist. I recommend doing the same for the crests. --Blazing Chaos 15:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Um, question. Edit

Somebody told me that there's a digi-egg of Loyalty, or are they thinking about Reliability? Because Loyalty is similar to Fidelity, which means Faith, and the digimental of Faith is the digi-egg of Reliability. With all due respect, Gazimon X 21:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

A quick google search shows only fanfiction of that digi-egg. I don't think it should be included. Lanate 23:03, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Digimon Digital Card BattleEdit

CHOOSING PARTNER

First you must choose a partner card, you can choose only 1 partner now. But later you can choose 1 more from this list (so you must forget 1 of these three). Veemon has a strong attack (Fire) —Flamedramon/F

         Raidramon/D
         Magnamon/F

Hawkmon for fast digivolve (Nature)—Halsemon/N

         Shurimon/N

Armadillomon for good defense (Rare)—Digmon/R

         Submarimon/I
  • What's digivolve ?
Digivolve : there are 4 rank cards in Digimon BC. R(Rookie), C(Champion) and
U(Ultimate). R the lowest and U is the highest rank. So, using Hawkmon means
that you can move from R to C to U faster.
A(Armored) rank only for partner.

Later in the games there are 3 more partners. This time you only can choose 1 partner: Wormmon (Darkness)—Shadramon/D

     Quetzalmon/I

Patomon (Nature) —Pegasusmon/N

     Baronmon/F

Gatomon (Nature) —Nefertimon/N

     Tylomon/I

So, total partners that you had in this game will be 3 partners.

All partners has 2 eggs (armor), except Veemon has 3 eggs. During the game, you only can use 3 Partner Cards ! Choose wisely. They all have own advantages and weakness. Choose which one suits you.

And to complete their eggs, read this : Thanks to gamefaqs massageboard to "Mwfillman" posted at(10/2/2001 11:42:57 PM) from "can sumebody help me ?" topics.

2nd Partner's first digi-egg : talk to TK. 3rd Partner's first digi-egg : talk to MetalGreymon. 2nd Partner's second digi-egg: talk to Tai. 3rd Partner's second digi-egg: talk to Omnimon. And Veemon 3rd eggs: talk to BlackWarGreymon after defeat him once.

Data SquadEdit

13. Digimental egg (DE) (degg)

You'll need the digimental egg for some digivolution. This section is also incomplete. So hope others can help and confirm me on the information 1. Light—Salamon's digiegg quest. (I don't remember how many digieggs to trade for this item) 2. Hope—Could be in Mirage Museum, in a chest, forgot 3. Friendship—In a chest at area 7, Sea Precipice Jerapilus 4. Knowledge—Go and see Pandamon after you have Renamon in your team. I think you have to answer a math question and the answer is 10 minutes. He'll give it to you afterwards. 5. Honesty—After you have met Chuumon, buy some stuff from him. Stop buying, talk to him until you have his request for cheese from Pandamon. If not, just buy some stuff again, stop buying & talk to him again until he told you of his request. Then go back to Pandamon, answer a question (I think the answer is Yoshino) and he'll give you the cheese. Bring the cheese back to Chuumon.

Disambig Edit

We might want to have a disambig page for Digi-Egg (Armor) and Digi-Egg (Level), or something like that, since it's used so mixed up throughout the wiki.

Does anyone know of an official, written name for the two? Is there a difference in hyphenation or capitalization, or what? Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 17:53, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Okay, we seriously need to figure this out, now. How do we want to deal with the disambig? Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 10:54, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
Digi-Egg (Armor) and Digi-Egg (Level). Both, to my knowledge, have the same capitalization and hyphenation. (Magnamon DM-193 for the former and Data Squad 12 for the latter. I'll do the edits myself. Lanate (talk) 11:20, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, do we want to make a full disambig, or have one as the main target, with a "youmay" to the other? Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 11:23, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
...actually, in retrospect, a you-may is probably better. Mainly because most people looking for a Digi-Egg probably want the Digimental. I don't think a search for the Digi-Egg level would be that popular, but that depends on how many pages link. Lanate (talk) 11:26, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, nix that. Most people would probably be searching the individual Digi-Eggs. As a rule, I dislike disambigs, but that might be the best way to put it. Lanate (talk) 11:28, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

Digi-Egg of Miracles Edit

Ain't it so that the Egg of Miracles only appeared once in the TV-series and once in the movie? Then following japanese standards of miracles, it is a miracle that it appears right?

Wouldn't that make the third movie completely canon if this was a fact? :) --77.53.44.193 19:22, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

The producers specifically stated that it was non-canon.
There are other problems, such as Seraphimon and Magnadramon being able to appear and knowing how to produce the egg, but not appearing in the finale; When the movie actually fits into the timeline; Not recognizing the Digi-Egg of Miracles when they find it in the base. Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 23:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Fate vs. DestinyEdit

In some defense of Fate, The Glimmer of Fate!! was translated as "Radiant Fate" in Digimon Tamers. Should the card be moved to "The Glimmer of Destiny!!" then for consistency? (By the way, could "Radiant xxx" be a valid translation of "xxxの煌めき"?) Lanate (talk) 19:25, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

煌めき specifically refers to something glimmering or twinkling, rather than radiating, so "Glimmer of Fate/Destiny" is correct.
...mmeeeeeerrr. Either way, we have a conflict, either on the dub or original side...I guess we use Fate as the original, and note in the section that Tamers also translated it as "Fate" instead of "Destiny"...merg.Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 20:14, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

Wonderswan exclusive digi eggsEdit

I had never seen the 'digi egg of guts' before and assumed that the website was being trolled. After plugging the name into google translate, it does indeed appear to be 'guts,' but consider the following. Other translations can be found on multiple sites. In fact, this is the ONLY one that uses 'guts.' Translations are often difficult, even more so when using idiomatic language from different cultures.

The translation from the games themselves use darkness, desire, and two others that can be translated as either stubbornness/tenacity and pride/vanity/boastfulness depending on what language is used.

The site specifically denotes darkness, desire, pride and tenacity (with translations). http://wikimon.net/Digimental This one http://www.tv.com/shows/digimon-digital-monsters/forums/what-would-you-say-your-crest-would-be-1387-1162810/ reports pride/boastfulness and stubbornness/tenacity. Subtitles taken from the games themselves.

These two are taken from sites that translate part of the game. They specifically mention that the text from the game names the crests as noted above. http://withthewill.net/archive/index.php/t-8263.html http://www.digimonrewatch.com/home/the-rewatch-interrupted-3-an-announcement-for-an-announcement These are not official releases from a digimon website, but they are taken straight from the game itself, which means I would trust THEIR translations, rather than google translate. Not that I don't adore google, but sometimes it is very literal, and it has a tendency to mix up cases, mess up pronouns, ignore nuance etc..

Thematically 'guts' doesn't quite fit. Indeed, being a 'gutsy' person is usually considered a good thing in the western world. Not so much in Eastern Asia where group mentalities are more valued. This is one reason why translating 'guts' to 'tenacity' tends to be a better fit.

I vote we change the names back.

First off, the translations being used by other sites are completely irrelevant to discussion. They're not canon (and in fact, reading those pages, not actually listing things taken from the games, but instead fandom discussion of fandom translations), and bringing them up as a sort of "but everyone else says X" is a waste of time. We deal with the canon -- the canon only has Japanese names for them. Therefore, we try to find the best translation for the canon names. The main issue is that as soon as you look at what the the Digimentals do, it becomes clear that puns are being used. For the Digi-Egg of Vanity, the word used in Japanese refers to "pride in one's singing voice" (think TonosamaGekomon), not just pride in general -- and the Digimental protects from sound-based attacks. We chose "Vanity" to best represent a "Diva" connotation. For the Digi-Egg of Guts, the Digimental protects against poop attacks. Furthermore, Konjou doesn't simply mean tenacity, at least not in the connotation you're arguing. It means:
  • 根性 【こんじょう】 (n,vs) will-power; guts; temper; nature; spirit; (P) [Edit][ViewDB][FreqCnt] [V][Ex][L][G][GI][S][A][W] [JW]
It's still very clearly referring to what a Westerner would mean when they say "Guts", and by choosing that translation, we're also communicating the poop-based pun. Your argument for using "tenacity" would actually be using the incorrect connotation. Replacing these two with "Pride" and "Tenacity" makes them much blander and more generically shounen, and completely ignores the quite obvious puns that were used in choosing their names.
In short, situations like this are exactly why we don't give consideration to fandom names when giving translations for non-romanized topics. Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 21:39, March 21, 2016 (UTC)
Also, Google Translate is dogshite. Use Ejje.weblio.jp, nifty honyaku, or WWWJDIC instead. Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 21:40, March 21, 2016 (UTC)

DW:EVOLVE Edit

While we don't have DW:EVOLVE sources on the Digimon who use the eggs, we do have the profiles clearly specifying which eggs are used for almost all of them. Do we want to put those in the infobox, maybe something like "Unspecified Digimon + egg" for those we dont have other sources to narrow down the user? Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 14:05, November 2, 2017 (UTC)

I would say no since most of them are already covered by the Digi-Egg Digivolution Chart. This isn't like the Spirits or Code Keys where you will are guaranteed the same result regardless of what you use with the Armor Eggs. Chimera-gui (talk) 15:58, November 2, 2017 (UTC)
