pafu[]

since the digimon name is romanised as "pafumon", should his attack not be "pafu balloon" rather than "puff balloon"?Marcusbwfc (talk) 15:45, May 4, 2020 (UTC)

Pafu is transliterated from パフ, meaning puff. The etymology section was misformatted to only have the English word. Chimera-gui (talk) 22:12, May 4, 2020 (UTC)
Yeah but both Pafumon (パフモン) and Puff Balloon (パフバルーン) use パフ, so if the name of the digimon uses "pafu", then I think the attack should as well. itd be like greymon having an attack called gurei punch (tho technically the other way round, gureimon, grey punch) although I guess that would techncally mean we'd have to translate to "Pafu Barūn" which would obvioulsy be wrong.Marcusbwfc (talk) 22:24, May 4, 2020 (UTC)
We don't autodub attacks based on the Digimon's name though, we go with the translation that makes the most sense and the most common translation of パフバルーン is Puff Balloon so unless there's any official translation contradicting this, we should keep it as is.

I feel it should also be noted that while the Japanese name was officially romanized as "Pafumon", it could also be romanized as "Puffmon" just as Centalmon can be romanized as Centarumon and Centaurmon. Chimera-gui (talk) 02:23, May 5, 2020 (UTC)
yeah it makes sense. I didnt realise the second half of the attack name would end up changed as well. but it just give me more "god damn it bandai" stuff, since I guess a proper translation of this digimon would be "puffmon". in this instance its the "diaboromon" to the "correct" trnslation of "Diablomon". oh well. as for dub, its only been in the medals/cards etc rather than playable in stuff (not counting vpets which dont list attacks), so we'll see if they have use "pafu" in the attack name (they prob will)Marcusbwfc (talk) 02:32, May 5, 2020 (UTC)
