When Hideto arrives to fight Taichi, the two have a small talk about who is right. As the fight starts Omnimon is, once again, winning, only for Zero to later start winning as he gets angry. Hideto then tells him that the Overwrite ability allows ancient Digimon to increase their strength. However, there is a downside to this ability. Much like CD and DVD overwrites, the more it's done, the more it degrades the Digimon doing it, making ancient Digimon have an extremely short lifespan. He also informs them that, due to this, Zero will not be able to digivolve to Mega, and that he is close to his limit. As the fight continues Omnimon uses his "Garuru Cannon", which appears to have destroyed Zero. Thinking he's won Zero pops out of the damaged area and manages to hit Omnimon.
